French, early 19th century. Matched set of four Louis XV style giltwood side chairs, each having a shell carved cresting over a cartouche shaped and padded back, the serpentine seat over a conforming apron centered with carved shell and raised on cabriole legs carved at the knee with flowerheads and terminating on scrolled or whorl toes. The whole covered in olive velvet with decorative nailhead trim. Approximate height 35.25", width 20.12", seat depth 16.5", seat height 17".
