British, 18th century. An engraving after Colen Campbell (Scottish, 1676-1729) from "Vitruvius Brittanicus (The British Architect)" published in three volumes between 1715-1725. Engraving titled "Elevation General du Chateau de Blenheim", inscribed below the image "The Generall Front of Blenheim Castle is most humbly inscrib'd to his Grace John Duke of Marlborough, Prince of the Holy Empire Capt. Generall of all his Majesty's forces, and Knight of the most Noble Order of the Garter & Co.". Inscribed top left "P. 57", top right "P. 58", and bottom left "C. Campbell Delin". Framed 39" x 24.75", unframed sight size 26" x 12".
