Johannsen & Co., London, 1895, the three-tier mahogany box with brass fittings and carrying handles, maker's plate with maker's name, 4426 , 1895 and Eight Days , brass gimbals and bowl, 4 3/4 in. dia. silvered Roman numeral dial with "Up-Down" indicator calibrated 0-8, seconds bit, maker's name engraved A. Johannsen & Co., 149 Minories, London. Makers to the Admiralty, The Indian Govt. & Royal Navies of Italy, Spain and Portugal , 4426 and 1895 , blued steel hands, eight-day chain drive fusee movement with split spotted plates, bi-metallic balance, helical hairspring and spring detent escapement, ht. 8 3/4 in. Original box with age consistent use; old lacquered surface on brass gimbal and bowl, slight stain on dial at three o'clock area, movement running, no doubt should be cleaned.
