Grand Tour Bronze and Marble Equestrian Figure of Marcus Aurelius, late 19th century, after the original from Rome's Piazza del Campidoglio and now on display at the Palazzo Nuovo, depicting the emperor on horseback, on rouge marble ovoid base painted with Latin inscription, ht. 11 7/8 in. two restored chips to top edge of main section of base (one approx. 1/4", the other 1"). light surface scratching to top surface. Bronze figure currently comes off base. lower plinth section of base with large edge losses.
