Likely British, 19th century. Porcelain fruit cooler with hand painted green, deep orange vermilion and cobalt blue hand painted decoration with gilt accents and unicorns in circular cartouches on removable bowl basin that sits within tapered vessel with semi nude figural mermaid handles above a tripartite base with green scaled serpentine dolphins with open mouths exposing teeth. Apparently unmarked. Height 11", width (across handles) 10". Provenance: Estate of Mr. Charles Edward Brodnax "Ned" Hansell, Mimosa Hall, Atlanta, Georgia.
