The Scallop Shell Attributed to Cronier ainé, rue Honoré à Paris, No. 2255. Made circa 1800. Fine, 18K gold and enamel scallop shellform pendant watch with concealed dial. Two-body, “fermée” type, shellshaped, spring-loaded front cover reveals the dial, both sides identically decorated with blue, black and yellow enamel, fixed suspension ring. White enamel, Breguet numerals, outer minute track. Blued steel feuille hands. 28 mm, hinged, gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, plain three-arm brass balance, continental cock pierced and engraved, polished steel endplate, silvered regulation dial. Dim. 38 mm x 37 mm.
