Vacheron & Constantin, Genève, No. 359458, case No. 222938, sold on 30 July 1912, in Argentina. Fine 18 ct. pink gold hunting cased keyless watch with chronograph and 30 minute instantaneous recorder, in original fitted box. Four body, massive, "demi-bassine" polished, the monogram "E.J.J." engraved on the cover. Gold cuvette. White enamel with Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute and chronograph ring, sunk subsidiary seconds and minute register. Blued steel "spade" hands. Notes The Trade Mark for the "Chronomètre Royal" was registered in 1907. This series of watches was especially made for the Bresilian market. Generally, their movements were of high quality, from 11"' to 22"', 18 jewels, with a gold screwed setting on the central wheel, an endstone for the escapement wheel and a sapphire endstone for the balance-wheel. They beared a Breguet balance-spring, swanneck micrometer regulator. The cases were made in different sizes, shapes, thicknesses, decorations, in 18 ct. yellow gold or silver. The dials were in white enamel or "guilloché" silver, in 12 and 24 hours, with Roman or Arabic numerals. As for the wristwatches, they were made from the 1950's, for various markets, in 18 ct. gold, with centre-second, Geneva Quality Hallmark. They bore a special stop-watch system when setting the second hand, 19 jewels, monometallic balance adjusted to temperatures, antishock system, Breguet balance-spring and swan-neck micrometer regulator.
