A. Gauthier, Besançon, dated 11 July 1886. Fine and unusual keyless "tropomètre". Four body, massive, "bassine", the back engraved with a floral decoration and a small monogram. Gold cuvette engraved with the date. White enamel with Arabic 24 hour ring, outer 100 decimal minute and inner 60 duo-decimal minute rings. Gold "spade" hands. 17-, gilt brass, 8 jewels, cylinder escapement, plain steel three arm balance, flat balance spring. Signed on the front plate under the dial. In very good condition. Diam. 45 mm. Notes Such watches were used for calculation on geographic maps.
