Set of Four George III Weighted Silver Candlesticks, Sheffield, c. 1775, Thomas Fox & Co., makers, with flaring sconces, tapered square section stems, and flaring, square bases with mahogany interiors, stamped throughout with bat's wing fluted demilunes and navettes, and beaded edging, ht. 12 in. one with sconce broken off, but present. marks quite rubbed, maker's mark clearest throughout. age wear to surface, including cleaning wear resulting in loss of crispness of surface decoration, as well as losses to the top of the beading--scattered areas where the beading has worn to a small hole. one stick with a few small spots of solder in these areas.
