Identified in inscriptions in the matrix. Lithographs with hand-coloring on paper, sheet sizes each 11 x 15 in., in later black-painted molded wood frames. Condition: Minor imperfections. Note: These lithographs are ranked in the Best 50 and New Best 50 as follows: American Homestead Spring , no. 45 in the New Best 50 ; American Homestead Summer , no. 39 in the New Best 50 ; American Homestead Autumn , no. 34 in the New Best 50 ; American Homestead Winter , no. 23 in the original Best 50 , and no. 5 in the New Best 50 . Spring: Margins 1 1/4 in. or more, fairly unobtrusve 1/3 in. repaired tear in sky u.l., toning, mat stains, minor foxing in margins. Summer: Margins 1 1/4 in. or more, toning, mat stains. Autumn: Margins 1 1/4 in. or more, likely cleaned, 1/2 in repaired margin edge tear l.r., 3/4 in. sliver of loss on l.l. corner. Winter: Margins 1 1/4 in. or more, toning, mat stains, light stains l.r., minor foxing in margins.
