12-inch Walnut Octant by Gilbert & Company, London, with brass index arm engraved Gilbert & Co. London and bone vernier engraved 0-20, bone scale calibrated 0-95 degrees, unmarked name plate, sun screens, horizon mirror and peep sight and turned brass feet. Brass and mahogany in old surface, peep sight bent, bone scale loose and minor losses on the vernier, vacant maker's plate probably replaced with surface anomolies surrounding the area.
