Elaborate Burlington County, New Jersey needlework sampler, wrought by Rachel Haines 1830 , depicting a Federal brick house with gentleman in a top hat with a long rifle hunting a fox on a fenced green lawn, flanked by duck, chickens, goats and trees, all surmounted by verse within additional birds, animals, baskets of flowers, spread winged shield breasted eagle and trailing floral border, 24 1/4" x 25 1/2" (minor loss to top edge). For similar example, see "Girlhood Embroidery" by Ring, figure 535 in which this particular sampler by Haines is also referenced.
