Frederick Childe Hassam (American, 1859-1935) The Avenue of the Allies, 1918 (Cortissoz & Clayton, 147). Monogrammed and inscribed "...imp" in pencil l.r., monogrammed and dated within the plate. Drypoint on paper, plate size 14 5/8 x 9 3/4 in. (37.0 x 24.5 cm), framed. Condition: Subtle mat burn, not examined out of frame. Outside of the frame the sheet measures 17 1/8 x 11 1/4 inches, and is hinged at the upper corners. It is laid paper, and there is an etching of a geometric proof on the reverse (just visible on the face of the print). There are nicks and losses along all edges, but especially to the right edge. On this same edge there is a tear just into the image (aligned with the lower edge of the top-most large flag). There is unobtrusive mat burn about 1/4 inch outside of the plate mark.
