Queen Anne Maple Fan-carved High Chest of Drawers, southern New Hampshire, late 18th century, brasses appear to be original, old refinish, (imperfections), ht. 73 3/4, wd. 38 1/2, dp. 19 1/2 in. Provenance: This high chest was purchased by the consignor from the Dean collection of Council Bluffs, Iowa. The original owners of the chest were Moses and Elizabeth (Batchelder) Flanders, who were married on December 5, 1765, and resided in or around Hampton, New Hampshire. The chest given to a New Hampshire descendant of the Flanders with the last name of Currier, and then through the Dean family. The Deans were descendant of the Curriers. Literature: The the high chest was pictured in situ in a "Living With Antiques" article depicting the Dean home in Council Bluffs in The Magazine Antiques , August 1963, p. 166, in the upper rt. corner photograph. shrinkage cracks in lower case, patch left side upper case to address a knot.
