George III Japanned and Brass-mounted Mantel Clock, c. 1770, dial engraved for William Mitchell, London, two-train barrel eight-day anchor movement, striking on single bell, with subsidiary date hand, strike/silent dial, and pull-thread repeater, the arch-top case with lifting handle, brass sound dampeners to sides, the front glass door flanked by cast brass herms over floral drops, the dial with foliate scroll spandrels, on bracket feet, ht. with handle 19 3/4, wd. 14 1/8, dp. 8 1/8 in. brass surface overcleaned. loss to small piece of veneer at top of case. possible scattered touch-up restorations to finish.
