English Pictorial Silk Needlework, mid-17th century, stitched with silk, metallic threads, and metallic braid on a silk ground, depicting at center a castle over a royal couple, each holding a shepherd's crook, the figures surrounded by an assortment of flowers, trees, birds, butterflies, and animals, and lower frieze of a recumbent lion, a running stag, two dogs, and a leopard, (minor imperfections), 14 x 17 1/2 in. , in a later molded giltwood frame. There are some thread losses at the center dog, flower, and ground area between the couple. minor toning and fading.
