After Abraham Munting (Dutch, 1626-1683) Eight Framed Botanical Prints Unsigned, species identified within the plates. Hand-colored engravings on paper, plate sizes approximately 8 1/8 x 12 5/8 in. (32.1 x 20.7 cm). Condition: Gentle toning, not examined out of frames. N.B. Many of the prints seem to be from Naauwkeurige Beschryving der Aardgewassen , a folio in two volumes including 243 engravings of flowering plants. Typical plates feature a single plant within a landscape. A renowned botanist and botanical artist, Munting was a professor at the University of Groningen and was the director of important botanical gardens in the mid-17th century. The botanical prints bear the following numbers within the plates: Fol. 179, Fol. 227, Fol. 617, Fol. 783, Fol. 804/805, Fig. 69 (270 in u.r. corner), Fig. 31 (140 in u.r. corner), Fig. 12 (Fol. 75 u.r. corner).
