Japanned Musical Bracket Clock with Automata by Stephen Rimbault, London, c. 1765, the lacquered case with gilt raised figures, caddy top, four brass finials and carrying handle, glazed dial door over the brass dial with recessed maker's boss engraved, Stepn. Rimbault London , silvered brass chapter ring with Roman numerals, finely matted center, cast brass spandrels and painted arch with four musicians all with articulated arms, one directing the trio, the others playing the harpsichord, violin, and cello, eight-day six pillar, three train fusee movement with time, strike, quarter chime on eight bells and two musical selections, 2-inch pin barrel, verge escapement and fully engraved backplate, ht. 23 in. with carrying handle extended. Case decoration restored about 1980, finials are appropriate replacements, painted arch in undisturbed condition, movement complete and in running condition.
