Blue Transfer-decorated Staffordshire Pottery Plate Depicting the Ship Cadmus, Enoch Wood & Sons, Burslem, England, early 19th century, with floral border, (minor wear), dia. 9 1/4 in. Literature: See American Historical Views on Staffordshire China , by Ellouise Baker Larsen, Doubleday, Doran and Company, Inc., 1939, p. 236. Larson notes that this view "bears closer resemblance to the real Cadmus as painted by Anton Roux than any other of Wood's views." Light scratches and wear to clear overglaze.
