Louis Kronberg (American, 1872-1965) Dancer in White- Mlle. Cébron, Opera House, Paris Signed "KRONBERG" l.l., with a second partial or pentimento signature and with a Star of David l.r., inscribed and dated "..June 1924/..." and identified on several labels affixed to the frame backing. Pastel on canvas, 24 x 18 1/2 in. (61.0 x 47.0 cm), framed under glass. Condition: Minor wear to the tacking edge. Provenance: Gift to Miss May McLaughlin from Louis Kronberg, April 1957, then by family descent. N.B. Mauricette Cébron was a dancer in the Paris Opera Ballet who became one of the most famous teachers in the Paris Opera school. She also studied with Isadora Duncan. Label from Lucien Lefebvre-Foinet, Paris, on the frame backing.
