Pair of George III Style Mahogany Cutlery Boxes, England, 19th century, with satinwood string inlay and fitted inserts, ht. 12 7/8 in. One missing a string inlay to front and side edge of the lid; chip to a back side edging; chips to either corner of base along back edge; 3" horizontal crack to backside near base; veneer strips to either underside edge of lid with chips (one also loose); scattered age typcial defects and wear; a 1 1/2" piece chipped off of front base. Crack running down most of one side. One missing a small piece of the string inlay along front corner of lid; crack to top surface; back separating from body evident along top; one side of the box with a crack running almost top to bottom near back edge; several patches to veneer strips that run under the edge of the lid; back edge missing about 2" of string inlay.
