Chinese Gilt Lacquer Sewing Box with Sewing Implements, c. 1840, chamfered rectangular form with hinged lid, brass handles and carved paw feet, decorated all around with a gilt figures in courtyards, flowers, butterflies, and bats on a black ground, the interior fitted with a compartmented lift-out tray containing several ivory, bone, and mother-of-pearl sewing implements, lower compartmented drawer, one compartment with hinged lid, (minor gilt wear and cracks), ht. 6 3/8, wd. 14 1/4, dp. 10 1/4 in.
