Engravings on paper (posthumous edition), total of twelve engravings on seven sheets, plate sizes to 10 7/8 x 16 in. (27.5 x 40.5 cm), unframed. Condition: Sheets trimmed along left edges, staining to bottom edges, toning. N.B. In their notes on this series published in Hogarth the Complete Engravings , Joseph Burke and Colin Caldwell write that Hogarth chose to work in a deliberately simple style and to sell these prints for a shilling each in order to reach those for whom his moral message was intended. Sheet sizes approximately 25 x 19 1/8 in.
