English Enamel Snuff Box with Portrait of George Washington, possibly Bilston, late 18th/early 19th century, the lid exterior labeled "WASHINGTON," the interior with a polychrome eagle and bearing the inscription "REPUBLICANS ARE NOT Always UNGRATEFUL," with deep blue body exterior, ht. 1 1/4, lg. 1 7/8, dp. 2 3/4 in. Lid with several matrixes of hairline cracks extending inward from the rim and light surface wear. Two associated nicks at rim outside the word "Washington." No repairs or inpainting.
