Pieced and Appliqued Cotton Washington's Plume Pattern Quilt, America, late 19th century, hand-stitched quilt with eight solid red scrolled plumes radiating from an eight-point star hub with a border of thirteen singular plumes appliqued to an off-white ground, edged and backed with off-white cotton fabric, quilted in a diamond pattern, shaped to fit a four-poster bed, (fading, light toning, fraying on edges), approx. 82 x 82 in. Provenance: Purchased from Fred Fuessenich, March 1973.
