Michael Ayrton (British, 1921-1975) Hammock Unsigned, numbered "1/9" along the side of base. Bronze and wire with brown patina, 31 x 10 3/4 x 8 1/2 in. (78.7 x 27.3 x 21.6 cm). Condition: Surface dust to interstices. Provenance: Probably through Alwin Gallery, London, March 18, 1976 (the invoice refers to an edition number of 5/9 instead of 1/9); by family descent to the present owner. N.B. A copy of an invoice from Alwin Gallery accompanies the lot.
