After Correggio (Italian, c. 1489-1534) Madonna with St. Jerome Unsigned. Oil on canvas, 70 3/4 x 56 1/2 in. (180.0 x 143.5 cm), unframed. Condition: Lined, retouch. N.B. The original painting by Correggio is in the collection of the Galleria Nazionale in Parma, Italy. The painting, which depicts the Madonna and Child with Saints Jerome, Mary Magdalene, John the Baptist, and an angel, was painted for the church of Sant'Antonio Abate in Parma in 1528. It had been removed to the Ducal palace by the 18th century, removed to Paris in 1796, but returned in 1814. The copy at hand it thought to be 19th century.
