An autograph book featuring signatures acquired in 1939 at New York Yankees spring training in St. Petersburg, Florida. The book features the signatures of members of the 1938 and/or 1939 World Series Champion New York Yankees teams, both players and coaching staff, along with other spring training participants. First are two pages bearing multiple signatures, followed by individual pages bearing single signatures. The first multi-signed page is signed by players Bump Hadley, Wes Ferrell, Joe Beggs, Steve Sundra, Atley Donald, Babe Dahlgren, Red Rolfe, Bill Dickey, Buddy Rosar, and Oral Hildebrand, coach Art Fletcher, and participants Paul Schreiber and John Haley. The first multi-signed page also features Lou Gehrig, Lefty Gomez, and Monte "Hoot" Pearson clubhouse signatures (meaning they were signed by clubhouse personnel); however, Gehrig did sign a separate page in the book. The second multi-signed page is signed by players Joe DiMaggio, Red Ruffing, Frank Crosetti, Jake Powell, Bill Knickerbocker, Art Jorgens, Joe Gordon, Tommy Henrich, Johnny Murphy, Charlie Keller, and manager Joe McCarthy. Each player, coach, and participant previously listed has then signed individual pages (excluding participant Paul Schreiber) throughout the rest of the book. Individual pages were also signed by those not appearing on the multi-signed pages, including Joe Gallagher, George Selkirk, Marvin Breuer, and Marius Russo, coaches John Schulte and Earle Combs, along with the signatures of Read more…
