In addition to their sword and bow, the horse-mounted Riders of Rohan carried a small axe, which was used primarily on horseback to hack downward upon their un-mounted enemies heads. This hard rubber stunt axe was weathered and painted to look like wood with a bronze engraved metal axe head with a leather wrapped handle. Stunt axes like this were used extensively by Rohirrim warrior extras throughout the Battle of Helm’s Deep sequence as well as during the final cavalry charge against Sauron’s host during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.
