A medal commemorating the induction of Joe Louis into the World Boxing Hall of Fame's inaugural class in 1980. The medal features "World Boxing Hall of Fame" stamped into the front around images of a boxing ring and glove over the image of a globe. The back of the medal is engraved "Joe Louis/ 1980." Former Heavyweight Champion Louis made 25 defenses of his Heavyweight title from 1937 to 1948 and was a world champion for 11 years and 10 months. Both are still records in the Heavyweight division.
