Grace Kelly skirt created for Mogambo (MGM, 1953), khaki knee-length skirt with built-in slip, rear zipper and hook and eye closure, label sewn in skirt reads “Grace Kelly 1616¬–2651. ” This John Ford film was a remake of an earlier Clark Gable film Red Dust (MGM, 1932) and Kelly’s first MGM film under contract. Both Kelly and co-star Ava Gardner were nominated for Best Supporting Actress Academy Awards. Kelly won a Golden Globe for her role. The film’s costumer was Helen Rose.
