Ercole Barovier

Murrino vase
Barovier & Toso Italy, 1948 amethyst and white murrines with gold leaf 4¾ dia x 9¾ h in (12 x 25 cm)
result: $13,750

Ercole Barovier was awarded the gold medal at the Triennale of Milan in 1948 for his Murrino series.
Although this series was never put into production, it marked a return to the use of murrines and the fused-glass method. The Saturneo series which followed is the true beginning of a technique that Barovier would explore for the next several decades.
