Franck Duminil abstract mixed media on aluminum in shades of copper; measures approximately 10" x 8-1/2" with wooden backing and has an aluminum sight image of approximately 9-1/2" x 7-3/4". Signed to lower right & artist name & title inscribed to verso on frame. After a Parisian childhood interspersed with family travel, Franck Duminil entered the School of Fine Arts of Bordeaux where he studied architecture in the Ferré workshop before following the course of Jean Prouvé at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers in Paris. In 1959, he left for twenty-eight months of military service in Germany and then in Algeria. From 1962-1967, he worked as a draftsman in various architectural firms in Paris (Louis Arretche, Max Tournier), painting and participating in various group exhibitions simultaneously. His improvised geometrism, where the impression of incisive coolness is supported by the dominant blacks and greys, makes his style very "metallic". Franck Duminil settled permanently in the Montmartre district in 1983.
