Ansonia Clock Company "Belgium" model enameled iron mantle clock with large cast ornaments of winged serpents, griffins, or gargoyles mounted to sides, large paw feet (one of which is detached from underneath & needs soldering repair), and an ornament around the base which matches the dial sash. Measures approximately 11" tall, 18" wide, and 8" deep. Two piece porcelain Roman numeral dial with open escape, stamped to inner circle with Ansonia "A" in traditional mark and "trademark" above. Also marked to outer layer of dial at bottom "Manufactured by the Ansonia Clock Co. New York. United states of America". Includes clock key. In Good overall condition with minor cracks to porcelain face (see detailed photographs) but does not appear to be working.The Ansonia Clock Company was one of the major 19th century American clock manufacturers. It produced millions of clocks in the period between 1850, its year of incorporation, and 1929, the year the company went into receivership and sold its remaining assets to Soviet Russia.
