Norton Prince of Magic trunk. Massive metal-bound theatrical trunk containing a portion of the show of Norton Prince of Magic. Among the props stowed in this trunk are a handsome Die Box, Hindoo Lota (Roterberg), Coffee and Milk trick (Roterberg), Dove/Rat Bottle with replacement glass mason jars, fruit tins and stacking tin cups for a hat production, Foo Can, a wooden nest of boxes (lacking key and unopened), early Passe Passe Bottles with liquid load for finish, hat coils, glassware and china plates and miscellaneous accoutrements used in performance. Two tiers contain the props, many of which are cushioned for and fitted to the props they contain. Trunk measures 40 x 24 x 16". Ca. 1915. Trunk worn and front lock broken; contents in fair to very good condition. Little is known of Norton, but research suggests him to be C. Porter Norton, a magician who toured small-time vaudeville circuits, and was, for a time, booked by magic dealers Halton & Jansen. This trunk was likely owned and used by Herman Homar after Norton.
