Jaks, Dr. Stanley. Group of nine pieces of Dr. Jaks ephemera. Including six pen-and-ink sketches by Jaks, three of them being self-portraits (four of them cartoons of a mentalist rendered on thick art board and signed by Jaks, the other two self-portraits on typing paper), a Jaks brochure signed and inscribed to Ed Miller, and two ALS to Frances and Jay Marshall, one bearing a large, charming and whimsical portrait of Jaks staring into a crystal ball. Ca. 1959. Light toning and wear to drawings, but generally good condition. Jaks, like his contemporary Bert Allerton, was a highly paid close-up entertainer working at posh hotels and niteries in and around Manhattan, as well as a renowned mentalist and ardent collector of crystal balls.
