Early English Stumpwork Picture, 17th century, depicting a figure of a woman holding a bird flanked by large flowers and insects, in a later frame, ht. 9, wd. 12 1/8 in. Provenance: Katherine Prentis Murphy. Estimate $400-600 The image stitched on silk and laid down on a later cloth backing. The silk background with scattered holes and separations. Toned.
