René Lalique (1860-1945) "Ondines" Plate, France, designed 1921, opalescent glass, depicting ethereal water spirits, wheel-engraved "R. Lalique France No. 3003," dia. 10 3/4 in. Note: René Jules Lalique was a French glass designer known for his creations of glass art, perfume bottles, vases, jewelry, chandeliers, clocks and automobile mascots. Lalique was best known for his glass creations. Works by Lalique can be found in private collections worldwide as well as the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Victoria & Albert Museum, Metropolitan Museum, and the Corning Museum. Estimate $500-700 Small ground rim chip. Surface scratch across center. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
