Confederate Artillery Brigadier General's Frock Coat, c. 1861-65, cadet gray wool broadcloth body, entirely hand-sewn body, with red cuffs, collar, and piping, four rows of galloon above the cuffs, wreath and three stars on each side of the collar, Virginia buttons on the cuffs, back of the skirts, and paired on the front, lined with green twilled silk with a mixture of machine and hand sewing, and the sleeves lined with plain woven cotton. Provenance: Deaccessioned from a local historical society. Estimate $10,000-15,000 Some wear from use and a few moth nips but in overall very good condition. The buttons and button holes had been altered to paired when the officer was promoted. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
