Nine Textile Accessories and Fragments, China, 19th/20th century, a cushion cover, a cushion front, three table runners, and four mats, some woven jacquard, others embroidered with satin stitch and couched gold thread, size to 40 x 17 in. Provenance: Descended in the family of Dr. Marshall Hertig, an internationally noted medical entomologist who conducted research on disease bearing insects at the Peking Union Medical College, from 1923-1928, his wife Edwina Smiley Hertig, and their son Bruce Allerton Hertig to the present owner. Estimate $300-500 One tassel on runner detached, wear to trim of another, minor staining to blue mat. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
