James, possibly Worcester, Massachusetts, c. 1828, designed as a leafless tree, each branch with a descendant's name and vital statistics, (toned), 17 1/2 x 13 3/4 in., matted and framed. Note: A handwritten label on the reverse reads "For Mr. Elisha Tolman/Living in Worcester, Mass./Done by His Mother/Charlotte A. James when in school/under the care of her/Uncle Galen James." Estimate $200-400 Image toned, abrasion/loss to some paint in grass below the tree. Image and writing remains strong and clear. Not laid down.
