L. Gerard Paine (American, b. 1905) Cove in Winter, Bucks Harbor, Maine. Signed "L. Gerard Paine" l.l., inscribed with the location on the frame backing. Watercolor on paper, sight size 14 1/2 x 22 in., framed. Condition: Tear (2 1/4 in.) to l.c. edge, not examined out of frame. N.B. The inscription on the frame backing gives specific information about the scene. "Pinky 'Surprise' owned by John Anderegg/in Betsy Widow Cove/South Brooksville/Bucks Harbor/Cousins Wharf Background/where the 'Diablesse' died." Estimate $100-200 It is reasonable to assume that the tear continues under the mat to the edge of the paper.
