Charles Hovey Pepper (American, 1864-1950) Spring in Concord Signed "Charles Hovey Pepper" l. l., identified and titled on a label from Doll & Richards, Inc., Boston, affixed to the backing. Watercolor on paper mounted to paperboard, 22 1/8 x 14 1/2 in. (56.1 x 36.7 cm), framed. Condition: Not examined out of frame. Estimate $1,000-1,500 The frame was opened during preview and the work is on Whatman Drawing Board, measuring 21 1/2 x 14 7/8 inches. The medium is watercolor and gouache. There is minor acid burn around the edges, slightly more noticeable at the u.l. edge. Tack hole to l.l. corner. The colors are vibrant and the impasto intact.
