Bertram Hartman (American, 1882-1960) watercolor depicting the famed ocean liner “Europa”, framed and matted under glass. Dated 1934 and signed by the artist to the lower left hand corner. Wooden frame measures 27-1/2” in height by 32-1/2” in width with the sight image measuring 20” in height by 24” in width. All measurements are approximate.Bertram Hartman (American 1882-1960) was a painter who was born in Junction City, Kansas on April 18, 1882. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, and at the Royal Academy in Munich and Paris. He was a member of the Chicago Society of Artists, National Society of Mural Painters, American Society of Painters, Sculptors and Gravers; and American Water Color Society. Hartman exhibited at the Panama-Pacific Exposition in 1915, Carnegie Institute in 1933, Art Institute of Chicago from 1926 to 1934, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, The Corcoran Gallery of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Brooklyn Museum, Grand Central Palace and in South America in 1940.
