Chinese, 20th century. Painting on wove paper depicts a pair of phoenixes, one standing center on a rocky outcrop jutting out over a rushing body of water, and the other standing further back on the shore looking on behind a large tree and group of bamboo. Birds are decorated brightly with feathers of blue, green, and red, and the scene is set on a ground of creamy yellow. Marked on right side with calligraphic marks in black beside two red stamps. Framed 62.25" x 36.75", sight size 49.75" x 25.25".
