Carl Gustav Jablonsky (German, 1756-1787) Six Framed Engravings of European Butterfly Species: Archontes (2), Dictatores (2), Milites, and Vestules Titled within the plates. Engravings with hand-coloring on laid paper, plate sizes 6 3/4 x 8 1/2 in. (17.2 x 20.7 cm). Condition: Some with toning, not examined out of frames. N.B. A note on an accompanying hanging tag indicates that the engraver was Ludwig Schmidt (1816-1906) and that these are first edition prints. The plates are thought to be from Jablonsky's publication Natursystem aller bekannten in- und auslandischen Insekten .
