Ruth Elizabeth Foster (American 1891-1985). "Solider in the Rain". Mustard yellow glazed studio pottery piece depicting an abstracted figure of a solider huddled with helmeted head tucked to his chest and large draped poncho to protect himself from the rain. Signed "FOSTER" on bottom with additional remnants of labels and other inscriptions and markings. According to the consignor, this piece was purchased at a modernist art fair or show in New York City in the 1980s. Figure raised on a custom lucite stand. Overall height (including stand) 6.75".
