Die Wiener Werkstätte 1903-1928. Modernes Kunstgewerbe und Sein Weg, 25th Anniversary Souvenir Publication, 1929. Cover of book with figural decoration is made from hand-embossed papier-mache on card divided diagonally and painted black and orange-vermillion. This unique publication was created for a celebration to mark the 25 year anniversary of the Wiener Werkstatte's founding despite their financial woes at the time. The interior pages were composed thoughtfully and artistically (as fitting with the group's values). Black, gold, red, and silver are highlighted throughout interior pages that reproduce some of the members artistic designs and achievements such as the work of Josef Hoffmann, Gustav Klimt, Julius Zimpel, Dagobert Peche, and others. Book compiled by Mathilde Flögl (work also accented within). Exterior of book designed by Vally Wieselthier and Gudrun Baudisch. Book measures approximately 9" x 8.5". Contained in custom clear Lucite display box with opening on one side. Provenance: From the Collection of Walter and Alice Glenn, Alpharetta, Georgia.
