Simon Willard Tall Clock, with Mahogany Case Attributed to Stephen Badlam, Roxbury, Massachusetts, c. 1790, the fret-top hood with three brass finials surmounting the frieze with inlaid pilasters flanking the dot and dart inlay crowning the glazed hood door over the "Osborne" painted iron roman numeral dial signed Sim[n] Willard , floral spandrels, recessed date and moon's age dial in the arch and pierced steel hands all flanked by freestanding brass stop-fluted columns, the rectangular waist door with bold fan and conforming light and dark line inlays all framed by similar light and dark inlay on case frame and brass stop-fluted quarter columns, the base with similar inlays of fan and complicated line inlays with central crotch mahogany veneer panel and outer broad banding all resting on a two-stage base molding and ogee bracket feet, eight-day time and hour strike brass movement with recoil escapement and rack and snail strike system powered by two iron weights and regulated by a brass-faced pendulum bob and iron rod, ht. to the top of the central finial 96 in.
