Steele, Zadock (1758-1845) The Indian Captive; or a Narrative of the Captivity and Sufferings of Zadock Steele. Montpelier, Vermont: by the author, (E.P. Walton, printer), 1818. First edition, 12mo, bound in full contemporary speckled sheepskin over scabbard, with the original label, unrepaired and unsophisticated, water stains, 6 1/2 x 3 3/4 in. Steele was twenty-two when he was taken during the Royalton, Vermont Raid in 1780.
